Younus Al Nasser is also the CEO of the Dubai Data Establishment, part of the Smart Dubai Office, charged with overseeing the implement of the Dubai Data Initiative, the most ambitious data initiative globally, and fostering a culture of data sharing in Dubai.

Dr. Mohsen Farid, PhD, has an established track record as an academic in data and computational science, HCI and Information Theoretic approach to data, natural language, physical systems and measurements. Dr Farid served as a professor and department head at a number of US academic institutions. Mohsen believes in the link between academic research and industrial and technological applications and has maintained active role in consulting and engaging in knowledge transfer through Knowledge Transfer Programs (KTP) and others in which close collaboration with industrial partners is maintained via Associates who are mentored to provide unique and needed applied expertise. He has also served in the UNESCO as an advisor to member countries.

Dr. Farid’s career involved working and consulting to industry. He worked at senior managerial as well as at consulting capacity for multinational corporations such as Mitutoyo Tools and Instruments where he co-developed the software for the coordinate measuring machines (CMM) and statistical process control. He also served at IBM, Microsoft and JPMorgan among others as a senior technical consultant. He also served as Senior Information Officer at the largest Oil Refinery in the Middle East (MIDOR). As part of his knowledge transfer engagements, he is working at a consulting and mentoring capacity to provide machine learning (ML) intelligent software systems to retailers such as Walmart in the US and Sainsbury’s in the UK.

Dr. Farid received an “Honourable Mention” from the US Army for work on Data Mining of Breast Cancer Research.

Mohsen is a senior member of IEEE, Fellow of Royal Society for the Arts (RSA), Member in the International Statistical Institute – International Association for Statistical Computing (ISI-IASC), the Society of Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) and the Association for Computing (ACM). He is the program co-chair of BDCAT2017 in Austin, Texas, USA. He was also a member of technical and program committees for IEEE and ACM BDCAT2016, UCC2016, ICOSST2016 conferences among others. He is also a frequent speaker in academic and industry conferences. Dr. Farid is also a reviewer for a number of specialized journals including the British Computer Society (BCS).

His research interests are in Artificial Intelligence, Data Science Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (sentiments and emotions), Human-Computer Interaction, Information Theory and Theoretical Physics. Dr Farid is the director of the MSc program in Big Data Analytics at the University of Derby and is currently supervising a number of PhD and MSc students.

Dr. Farid is currently an associate professor of data science and a fellow of the Big Data Laboratory at the University of Derby, the United Kingdom.

With a career that spans more than 30 years of dedicated experience in higher education, research and industry, Dr Farid is well positioned to share his knowledge and expertise in a leading role in any of these fields which will ultimately increase the return on investment to the organizations for his efforts.

In 2016 he ran the MakeoverMonday project with Andy Kriebel, a social data project which saw over 500 people make 3000 visualizations in one year. The project received an honourable mention in the Best Dataviz Project category of the 2016 Kantar Information is Beautiful Awards.

Prior to joining MicroStrategy, Darryl was the Head of Retail and Wholesale for SAP EMEA. During this time, he was a member of the Global Retail Steering Board and a core member of the Global Retail Strategy group at SAP. Darryl led a highly experienced team that helped bridge SAP’s capabilities with customers and industry business needs.

Kyrgyz entrepreneur Ulugbek Yuldashev is the founder and chief executive officer of AWOK.com, which is, one of the leading online retail platforms in the UAE. He founded the online store in 2013, which commenced operations, by selling electronics and gadgets. The company has grown rapidly since its inception, offers over 50,000 products across 30 plus categories, and employs close to 500 people.

Yuldashev has had a flair for business since an early age and started his first company in 2004, when he was just 19 years old. It was a retail and wholesale business in Kyrgyzstan named Domashniy (Russian for Home Center).

In 2006, the ambitious young entrepreneur moved to Dubai and in 2008 established the wholesale company Gulf Alabel Technologies LLC.
