Younus Al Nasser is the Assistant Director General of the Smart Dubai Office, guiding Dubai’s citywide effort to transform Dubai into the world’s smartest city by 2017.
Younus Al Nasser is also the CEO of the Dubai Data Establishment, part of the Smart Dubai Office, charged with overseeing the implement of the Dubai Data Initiative, the most ambitious data initiative globally, and fostering a culture of data sharing in Dubai.

Dr. Dirk Jungnickel is a senior vice president heading the central Business Analytics and Big Data function of Emirates Integrated Telecommunications Company (du), which integrates data warehousing, big data platforms, BI tools, data governance, business intelligence, and advanced analytics capabilities.
Following an academic career in theoretical physics, with more than seven years of postdoctoral research, he has spent 17 years in telecommunications. A seasoned telecommunications executive, Dirk has held a variety of roles in international firms, including senior IT and IT architecture roles, various program management and business intelligence positions, the head of corporate PMO, and an associate partner with a global management and strategy consulting firm.
Joel Farvault was appointed as Head of Regional Architecture, Data and Innovation in August 2015. In his role, he is responsible for leading the data team, which includes data engineers, data scientists and Business Intelligence (BI) experts, in addition to defining and implementing data and IT strategies.
With nearly a decade of experience in the insurance industry, Joel joined AXA in 2012 as the Head of Architecture, IT Strategy and Innovation for the Life & Savings business line, where he was responsible for defining and implementing AXA’s IT strategy, in addition to defining Data Strategy and Smart Data solutions.

Abhijit Sharma is an experienced analytics professional with more than 10 years of work experience in US, Middle East and India. Fadi Salem is the Research Fellow, at the Mohammed Bin Rashid School of Government (MBRSG); Fellow with the I+I Policy Research Centre, Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore (LKYSPP); and, a former Associate with the Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, Harvard Kennedy School (HKS). Dr Kathy Ning Shen is an Associate Professor at the University of Wollongong in Dubai. She obtained her Master of Philosophy and PhD degrees in Information Systems from City University of Hong Kong, and her Bachelor and Master’s degree in Information Management from Peking University in China. Prior to joining UOWD, she was an Assistant Professor and the Chairperson of Management Information System Department at Abu Dhabi University.
Her teaching style is quite flexible in pedagogical methods in order to accommodate different levels of students, ranging from undergraduate students to doctoral level students, and students with different knowledge backgrounds. She brings her rich research and industrial experiences to the classroom and always encourages students to be creative and critical.
Her main research areas include digital marketing, human-computer interaction, IT adoption, and knowledge management. Her research has been funded by Emirates Foundation, National Research Foundation and UOWD Research Grant, and Educational Strategies Development Fund (ESDF) at University of Wollongong in Australia. Her current research and consulting interest is using big data for business analytics.
