Second Boris was the technology leader for Asia and Africa and led major transformation projects that were considered a “first of” in the financial industry. Boris directed the first implementation of TCS BanCs with DB2, the first Finacle implementation with DB2 for z/OS, the first SAP Banking implementation (in China nonetheless), the largest fraud detection system at a credit card provider and the – at that time largest online bank implementation at www.chase.com, drove the conversion of Standard Chartered Bank’s front office systems to IBM and many more. Boris was the driver making DB2 for Linux a successful product line and made Linux ubiquitous across the Information Management portfolio with over $100M USD revenue in 2004. He introduced the first Linux cluster with DB2 in a commercial packaged solution, called Integrated Cluster Environment (today sold as Integrated Analytics System), the ancestor of IBM Private Cloud and DB2 for cloud offerings today, and was instrumental in bringing Linux forward in the IBM ecosystem.
He started his career as a developer and researcher at Digital Equipment’s Campus Engineering Center in Germany and moved to Compaq in 1994 where he was one of the early team members who brought SAP’s R/3 on to the Windows platform.
