With his long experience in the enterprise solution space Boris is the trusted adviser to the executive community of enterprise accounts, assists in structuring and planning of solution landscapes and is using his discussions with clients as input for MongoDB product management and development.
 
Before joining MongoDB Boris had a long distinguished career at IBM and FIS. At FIS Boris led the banking risk development teams around the globe and built out new development sites in Toronto and Belgrade for the organization. He was the thought leader to drive the conversion from legacy SQLServer to MongoDB and then the technology step from on premises deployments to an implementable cloud strategy. Within three years he converted eight applications sets and built out a new data platform called FIS DataHub.
At IBM Boris ensured the viability of the technology eco system for IBM business partners and clients across the Information Management product portfolio with a business volume of over USD $500M. His worldwide team of more than 400 professional consultants and developers included worldwide development team for SAP DB2 integration responsible for the complete SAP DB2 life cycle.  Second Boris was the technology leader for Asia and Africa and led major transformation projects that were considered a “first of” in the financial industry. Boris directed the first implementation of TCS BanCs with DB2, the first Finacle implementation with DB2 for z/OS, the first SAP Banking implementation (in China nonetheless), the largest fraud detection system at a credit card provider and the – at that time largest online bank implementation at www.chase.com, drove the conversion of Standard Chartered Bank’s front office systems to IBM and many more.  Boris was the driver making DB2 for Linux a successful product line and made Linux ubiquitous across the Information Management portfolio with over $100M USD revenue in 2004. He introduced the first Linux cluster with DB2 in a commercial packaged solution, called Integrated Cluster Environment (today sold as Integrated Analytics System), the ancestor of IBM Private Cloud and DB2 for cloud offerings today, and was instrumental in bringing Linux forward in the IBM ecosystem.
He started his career as a developer and researcher at Digital Equipment’s Campus Engineering Center in Germany and moved to Compaq in 1994 where he was one of the early team members who brought SAP’s R/3 on to the Windows platform. Boris became Senior Member Technical Staff in 1998 as the youngest person ever achieving this seniority in by then merged Compaq/Digital company. Boris was one of the three co-founders of the SAP LinuxLab and led multiple ISV relationships in the ERP space working for Compaq and Dell before moving to IBM in 2001.
Boris Bialek holds a Master of Computer Science from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology and wrote his thesis about automatic configuration management for software systems which became the automatic code merge facility in ClearCase.
